Queen West Crowd

Living on Queen West has been an experience for me and observing it’s traffic of people.
I love figurative work and seeing the humour and vulnerability in different personalities. I am also keenly interested in capturing a moment in time, a mood; when the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. The painting, Pals is a  moment observed between friends after a yoga workout.I try to say the most with the least, relying on similar elements and colours. Designing these figures into the space is very important for me and making them a part of the background canvas.

Man’s best friend is a dog. There are lots of dogs at Trinity Park. The Man and Dog have developed a close relationship so that they almost look alike and have the same arrogant personality. The most recent pieces include goats and not dogs as a playful design element. You can’t be depressed when looking at the face of a goat. As a young girl, one of my favourite artists was Modigliani. He could express so much personality with so little effort; his figures did not even have eyes and yet you felt you knew them. I love designing a figure into an almost flat, abstract background and making it speak out and be heard. This is the purpose of my series and it does not look like there is an end anywhere in sight.
