When the camera was invented and realism was within easy reach. Before that visual artists who were technically adept were gods. I think we are trying to reproduce that admiration by again showing off our technical skills as artists but it is failing somewhat flat. 
Realistic art may or may not be rendered by hand or a machine and drawn or painted over and called mixed media. No one can tell anymore. 
And is it really important to be that technically correct in these times. It’s as if we are regressing and not progressing.
If an artwork is done by hand solely it is never perfect, there are tell tale signs where the hand slipped.
As Leonard Cohen sang, “the light is in the cracks”, the unconscious slip ups of the hand in the artworld is what makes art beautiful and mysterious.
Like music, I’ve heard terrible musicians from a technical standpoint, write a beautiful piece of music, and heard highly skilled musicians write something that I guess they thought was musical but was really just them showing off how knowledgeable they were.
So when you look at visual art, especially painting don’t let technical virtuosity cloud your enjoyment and reception of a piece. Carravago is no more moving than Gustav Klimt and maybe even less beautiful. 
So I am hoping we get past oohing over realistic art, where each strand of hair is painted on a woman’s head with a 0.05 paintbrush, and go back to appreciating art that moves you emotionally, sensually or titillates your imagination, regardless of how technically correct.

Does that mean we are joined at the ribs? Or does it mean he didn’t like the idea of the vagina, where a sperm and egg joined to produce a baby carried by a woman for 9 months. As women carry life on earth and provide the environment. 
Or does it mean this story was manufactured by men, not God to ensure they rule over women and keep them barefoot, pregnant and without resources or opinion in the life and running of the world.
Why didn’t God create two ribs at the same time, a male and female one? It would have saved us from hundreds of years of patriarchy that we are still living with now. It would have communicated that men and women are equals and have an equal say in how the world is run. We would have functioned as a cooperative partnership, instead of this nonsensical “I am the leader and you are the servant” that has characterized our existence spilling over to our work life from home.
Imagine a work world where instead of Ceos, Billionaires and other unsavoury personnel the workforce was run as a Cooperative where leaders were elected and instead of being owners they were stewards. The people with the best skills were elected to the various positions. Inventors were helped to make their dreams possible. And major decisions were made jointly by elected comittees. Rivalry only existed between people based on creativity and productivity. Money would flow equally to all along with contributions to society as a whole for infrastructure, education, healthcare and governance. Where there was no need for an oversized political government machine because everyone was happy and respected with their lot in life and greed was non-existent. The raison d’être of living would be to serve and exude kindness in the world.
But no, WE have been taught for millennia that Adam came first and his rib made the world happen so he is the boss. Even a five year old might find that hard to believe, but adults have swallowed this explanation whole and based the establishment of society on this principle because supposedly God said so.
Unless we give up this premise and start viewing the bible as a beautiful mythology story and not the literal truth, nothing will change. And today’s world is the extreme caricature of this belief.
The creation stories of Indigenous people include turtles and ravens and beautiful as they are, adult people tell them to their children, but don’t form societies based on them.
In the Ojibwe oral tradition the Creator had cleansed the world of feuding peoples in order to begin life anew. Some animals survived the flood, such as the loon, the muskrat and the turtle. And no hierarchal system was set up based on this. In the Indigenous tradition there is cooperation and elders are consulted when major decisions need to be made. But today, tradition is influenced by white peoples social systems.
Maybe we could take cleanse the world part to heart, and if a flood, fire or extreme cold spell doesn’t rectify the problem by Mother Nature, then we can tax the greedy fuckers who want to run the world and are doing it through wars, killings, beheadings and dictators and their goons, and jail them all.
I am more than ready for a cleanse!

Paintings that look like illustrations are being shown. Norman Rockwell who in my day was described as a commercial artist has become an idol for painters. When I went to art school we were taught that fine art and commercial are two separate entities and the twain shan’t meet. In fact we were warned that if we wanted to remain fine artists we should avoid doing commercial art and work at something else if we needed money. While the line between commercial and fine art can be blurred, the primary reasons to avoid it are to prevent the compromise of artistic integrity and to avoid being pigeonholed by market demands. art to remain “fine artists” is rooted in preserving the independence, personal vision, and prestige often associated with gallery-oriented art.
Art has lost its interest in fine art, labelled it elitists and moved on to art that sells and makes money, like the rest of everything in our Extreme Capitalism society. Personal visions are banal in a society enamoured with AI and the Information Age. Machines rule peoples lives and no one is interested in what mystics or enlightened artists might discover. We think we know everything there is to know or if not, we can find out by powering up our laptops. Information has replaced inspiration and AI replaced God. Abstract art that allowed everyone including dogs and elephants to paint killed what was left of fine art.
Now we are trying to return to it by gushing over master paintings and copying them but really it is still all about gushing over technique and not the message. I tried to explain to someone why Van Gogh’s sunflowers are not just a pretty picture, not even rendered as well as any of Norman Rockwell’s drawings. But to no avail, as the criteria people are using to judge art is all based on digital renditions because galleries that exhibited the live paintings are slowly dying and disappearing. Or galleries are trying to stay relevant by showing mostly digital art. Performance has made a comeback because digital art leaves you emotions cold and something needed to be stirred energetically during exhibitions.
When I saw the real paintings of Van Gogh at AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario), it took my breath away and my heart pound and shivers run down my spine...that is what fine art offers and you don’t give a hoot if it is drawn precisely or not. I felt like I was seeing the Universe. And recently Scientists are saying that Van Gogh actually painted fractals.
Illustration is pretty well rendered and may stir some remembrance in the viewer but NOT the bodily explosion of a genius fine artist’s artwork. We are losing something precious and trying to recover it in our times seems impossible. Before the iPhone we held hands looked deeply into each others eyes and enjoyed closeness and touch. Now with everyone eyeing their phone, a third hand attached to us at all times, we are too busy waiting for the next BIG NEWS that will make us millionaires or young again, to have time to even to listen to our chattering young children. Or to really hear what our partner is saying. Too busy to hug her/him for longer than a split second, not enough time to exchange real warmth and feelings that heal that produce love. Unless of course sex is on the menu. Nothing before or in-between . Basically if we are not having sex we are disengaged and longing to eye our phones.
It’s no wonder there is so much pedophilia, because children are always sensual, they haven’t learned to turn off yet. And some people, mostly men think that sensuality is sexuality. Because they dont know how to be sensual in life, having become robots thanks to technology addiction. Where emotions go to die and fake reality begins.
Just look where our art is headed....technoart, that aims to boggle the mind but does nothing for your heart or soul. Sensuality in most modern art is dead.
This is sensual art, called “Gentle Embrace”. If you google sensual art you will get mostly porn.. Georgia O’Keefe did the most sensual pantings of anyone and they were mostly of flowers. We have even forgotten what he word sensual means. 
The challenge in our day and age is to become unaddicted from technology and start living and relating again.

Yes humans are remarkable, they create art, have powerful forebrains, create societies and systems. Religions that have been predominantly powered by men have chosen to separate humans from there forms of life; even men from women, naming some inferior and of course men as being the most superior beings ordained by an invisible God. They divorced earth, animals, plants for humans describing men as just a thinking machine void of any connection to earth and other forms of life.
We were meant to be Stewards of the Earth, not Kings sucking up and exploiting its riches and gifts. The Indigenous people understood this and so gave prayers of thanks to the spirit of deers before they killed a deer for meat. 
We now have the extreme opposite people in power who just grab and take whatever suits them and don’t even know what the word gratitude means. What is Musk grateful for, probably only for the money he is hoarding by means of the ultimate destruction of our home, the earth.
As soon as 2030 the odds now indicate that most of the planet will not have reached the Sustainable Development Goals, that global warming will continue, that the population will grow in the poorest regions and that there is not yet an alternative economic model that allows for a better redistribution of wealth.
If some life dies, like bees, due to chemical infestations only viruses and cockroaches will survive. The immediate question is will earth survive to 2050?
It is estimated that rising sea levels will make coastal lands disappear, even New York and British Colombia due to Climate Change. Global average sea level has risen 8-9 inches since 1880, and the rate is accelerating thanks to glacier and ice sheet melt.
You all have read the scientific papers but have not heeded the warnings and put people n power and idolized them that are in the process of destroying it altogether with AI Slop. These Techie Feudals made you believe that it is progress when billionaires kill life for profit!
It is time to do an extreme about face and start worshipping the real life we have been given on earth, thanking the fruit flies for their role in it and all other beings placed here for a reason.

Men talk about feminism in a way that makes it seem like women are trying too “overpower” men? It’s basically like admitting you don’t wanna lose your privilege and control in this world, because you’re too scared of women being equally as privileged and have the same basic human rights as you. And so far except for a couple of countries, women have been undermined and shafted in politics and other leadership roles for exactly this reason.
There are hierarchal ways of leading which men prefer; and cooperative models of leadership which come more naturally to women. 
Men war, women make peace…and that is why you hardly ever hear of women being Nazis.
Our world right now is an example of “extreme male rule” and men who are afraid of women’s power make them shut women’s mouths and eyes and live in the shadows.
Religions particularly put women down. Some more than others. Islamic Terrorism is an extreme example where women are clothed from head to toe and not allowed to go to school, drive a car or have a bank account.
A number of young men in the West are attracted to it because of this fear of becoming redundant in society. So they join Incel Groups, a subculture that is part of the broader “manosphere,” a collection of online male supremacist and anti-feminist movements. Margaret Atwood described it brilliantly in “Handmaiden’s Tale”.
An old prophecy in Indigenous Lore, specifically Lakota, says that this patriarchal world will come to an end when the White Buffalo Calf will come, in a period of great difficulty, to restore harmony and balance.

True Love is no longer in The Air, creating a lightness of being and joy in existence.
I remember a longtime ago when visiting Paris France first time, you could inhale that lightness in the air and watch elderly couples still holding hands in the street and young people cuddling. Even if that statement is true ultimately and we experienced it while watching sunsets and butterflies; while alive on this earth we need to think critically about what is going on so we can connect with the world and contribute to it in a meaningful way.
Just look at all the MAGAS whose brains have jumped ship and the fallout of that. Out of control Mad Hatters ruling our lives, food, water, earth and how we spend our time and think.
I balk at postings of pretty memes telling you to keep sleeping while everything is going to pot around us. Hey, forget wars, murder, oil mining, climate change and just stick your nose in doggie reels.
Critical thinking is the number one force of fighting evil in the world, so use it for Heaven's sake.

Normally it would be seen as the mind encouraging a person to not let go of attachments, desires and pursuing an unhealthy path in life. But this Buddhist points out that the original Mara in texts was a person that whispered in the Buddhas ear when Buddha became enlightened and decided he should start teaching, saying things like “Don’t waste your time because those people are not intelligent enough to understand.”
I think maybe we have a number of these types of people in our world now whispering to us to stop meditating, showing compassion to others or doing anything that we don’t find pleasurable, making us happy or requiring effort.
In fact we have an overwhelming amount of Maras and only a spec of Buddhas, that is why they say we are living in Dark Times. 
It is truly a challenge to not listen to whispering or roaring loudly Maras and remind yourself everyday what life is really about.
Today as I was leaving Loblaws to take the escalator down I saw a man lying on the ground near them while many people simply hurried by him to go home. No one even gave him a glance. And I too slipped onto the moving stairs. But by the time I got down I realized I needed to tell somebody about him in the store and even though I knew I was tired and would prefer to just go home. I went back up the other stairs and went to find a manager. She said when I told her a man is lying on her floor, that that part was not store property. I suggested somebody has to call community police. And just then a strapping big man with a vest saying POLICE emerged from the store and he went to see the man and said he would look after things.
I went home with a relieved heart that I didn’t follow the hundred others who simply see a human lying on the floor as trash.
It is hard work to observe yourself in each situation and walk the narrow path shunned by people like Musk who believes empathy is for suckers.

Climate Change is not just about being uncomfortable with heat or cold, or storms and forest fires that we deal with but Mass Starvation, Banking and Government Collapse. You can’t air condition crops and rice and wheat says Occupy Democracts.
Also it can reduce oxygen in the ocean, lakes, rivers and streams, causing changes in species and health lung and heart problems.
We could turn this around or at least try to but the fascists in the world have scared people into focussing on immediate economy, just like Billionaires intended them to.
Musk the greediest person in the world with the most money who refuses to help anybody and even kills children for efficiency reasons did something good for Climate Change in the beginning by creating Tesla, a battery run car. But he has now only shown his stripes when he rigged the Trump election and became a self-professed Nazis. He demonstrated to us that it was all really about making a profit and amassing oodles of money.
Musk and his Techie Bros have taken over most of the world, addicting us to their machines with no integrity or love or even safety for humanity in sight.
What do we need to do? Besides massively taxing them and taking back our humanity and power, we need to kill AI the most dangerous of their schemes now. It not only will cause total unemployment, it is making art and science obsolete and freedom of speech, while obscuring the line between truth and lies.
We can’t wait much longer before we experience the fallout of embracing the notion that technology is progress. We were embarked on real progress when listening to Women and Nature and Prophetic Voices of genuinely Wise Contemporary Sages.
The Idiot Techie Billionaires have taken over governments, and News outlets and bought up our land so food production can now be artificial and make them profit. People like Musk who live inside their virtual screen realities are totally deluded and blind to reality. We need to stop them from destroying the rest of our lives.
