Popcorn was a perk.
Above all we had the freedom to think critically and weigh information before swallowing it wholesale because we had time to digest it, unlike now where we are bombarded every second with new info. When discussing issues we had time to formulate thoughtful opinions and share them with friends to see what their views were on the topic. Now it is just a one word response in a short message space. And before a topic got any thorough exploration we had to move on to something new. I call it speed thinking. Quantity over quality.
And that is where we are at now, we have lost quality of life.
According to consumer research, the average person checks their smartphone 144 times a day. That breaks down to picking up your device roughly every 9 minutes you are awake, costing the brain an average of 23 minutes to refocus after each quick distraction.
Artificial intelligence is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the internet by 2050. Imagine a world where AI doesn't just assist us but interacts seamlessly with us. So in fact we will all be little robots thinking what AI tells us to think with a blank mind of our own, living in a waste land of Data Centres.
Unless we stop the power hungry Techies NOW from continuing their plans and shut everything down and start again using technology for actually helping humans and not taking over our mind and bodies, which will end up riddled with cancer at the rate we are going. Or simply voting in anti Techie politicians that will tax them out of existence and bring them down. Only Social Democracy can do the. Voting for any billionaire loving government is an end of the world game.
I would give my right arm to go back to before computers, when you woke up and noticed the sunrise and really paid attention to your family members and pets, tasted the coffee, and had time to read books that expanded your experience of the world and not narrowed it like the internet is doing.
