Love as the merging of two souls is passe as every cynic will let you know...and yet we continually long for it.
Love is such an easy word to use for anything mundane, I love chocolate for example. It has been so abused along with all the little heart icons on our digital tablets that when someone says it you, you just want to smile and say, yes ok so what, are you buying me a house? Along with the increase in sexual violence due to wide spread porn, love does not titillate any longer. Man and woman when they fell in love were meant to experience something profound, unifying, a god-like experience almost mystical in nature that would last for ages through children, hardships and health issues and the aging process. This Love (with a capital L) allowed men to see the sacred in their women and women to see the sacred in her men. Due to sex being so prevalent, even used to sell toothpaste, and under the guise of liberation we threw love out of the equation...and at the same time we threw the sacred out as well and ...what is left...money and anger....constant desire and dissatisfaction...and maybe TRUMP as the president of the USA...
Love as the merging of two souls is passe as every cynic will let you know...and yet we continually long for it.

Today I asked myself what is in fashion as a far as painting is concerned. The answer seems to be a jellybean mixture of "Where's Waldo", No focus, style, mood or thought provocation allowed...just a jumble of colours and shapes, the more the better. It seems people all want to be detectives, trying to find the hidden in the mish-mash...except that often nothing is hidden, just like the proverbial jar of jellybeans it is but a guessing game with no resolution. We seem to be a betting society besides loving detective mysteries, nothing too profound, meaningful or somber please...just a bit of fun. This is what I've noticed predominates in the art world at the moment...
