Andy Warhol, great artist? Hardly! I think that thanks to him, we have made art into a commodity in our industrial society and are playing with it like Wall Street with money... and totally lost sight of its real purpose to move and capture the soul... Warhol blinded the masses with junk, pretending to be art, telling them to worship Hollywood, Campbell soup, and Elvis...he did the masses a great disservice...and produced silly artists like Jeff Koons along the way, that emulated his love of junk in our capitalistic trash can of images...now we as artists and public are so lost that only when we see a reasonable design with decent colours we scream this is great art, even if it says nothing profound or captures any souls or even expresses beauty...SAD STATE of AFFAIRS...he should never be compared to Picasso who was an original who saw something more than 3 dimensions in reality and tried to express it...The soul can be moved by different raw emotions; a transcendence of experience; an aha, I learned something new; by sheer beauty of life, it's magic; or even a realization of some of the horrors man is capable of; and the sadness of the Impermanence of things....but to idolize Marilyn Monroe and tell people she is an inspiration or glorify canned soups is an abomination...to the heart...
